Muscles & Movement Anatomy

THE FULL COURSE

How to identify muscles and their actions so that you can teach safe alignment.

Yay! I Love Anatomy!

Tackle the Elephant-sized Topic of

Muscle Anatomy

How would it feel if Anatomy was

clear and easy to remember?

Learning all the muscles in the body is not an easy task; there are more than 600 of them, and they are all in Latin. But as movement professionals, we know we need to know muscles to teach movement.

Knowing which muscle is contracting is the only way to teach someone how to move and ensure their safety effectively. However, trying to memorize them all out of context is a long and dry road to nowhere.

Think of this course as two immersion weekends in applied muscle anatomy spread over five weeks with built-in time to learn, practice, implement, and review.

We'll learn muscles in the context of movement and approach each asana with muscle action rather than looking at an asana and guessing which muscle is moving, creating a dramatic difference in how you instruct asana.

Sounds dramatic, I know. But this is a game-changer.

Whether you need a refresher and already have a good base of muscle knowledge, or you're just starting, there's something here for you.

What I'll Teach You in this Immersion Course

Muscle Design

How to use the striations in muscle fibers and their attachment points to reveal their action in an asana - even if you don't know the muscle names.

Asana Alignment

How identifying muscle action dictates alignment in asana - not the other way around.

Muscle Injuries

How to avoid common injuries like compensation, overuse, and overstretching by identifying muscle action.

Muscle Identification

How to group muscles by actions and identify which muscle is doing which action. Then use muscle identification to teach movement, and how it will change the way you instruct asana (and make it easier).

Teaching Movement

Integrate what you've learned with real-time teaching and practice. We'll spend ample class time applying what you've learned into actionable teaching technique, and the opportunity to solidify the material for good this time.

Balance v Power

Which muscles need to engage in balance poses and which ones in a power practice - and why they are necessary to avoid injury.

Learn Latin

Let the Latin work for you and learn how muscle shapes, locations, and names lead to knowing their actions and make it easier to understand their actions and remember them.

Muscle Actions

How to instruct effectively based on the fact that muscles work together to create a movement - no muscle works alone. Learn which muscles are contracting and which are lengthening in every asana.

SO WHAT makes me so UNIQUE to teach you all of this?

Hi, I'm Gina

I have a passion for two things in life: functional mechanics so that people experience moving pain free and my boxer mix, Rumi. When Rumi and I aren’t exploring a magical forest, I'm helping clients alleviate pain, heal from injuries, and optimize their movement patterns. It's the winning combination of more than 10k hours of clinical experience and decades of training that prepares me to share this awesome information with you.

FAQ's

question_answer

What if I can't make all the training sessions Live, will they be recorded?

It's best to show up Live. That said, recordings of each session will be available during the course. It's recommended to review them during the course to solidify the material. This access is one huge benefit of the course format.

question_answer

How do I redeem the bonus?

Easy! Take a selfie video of you teaching, your students (only with their permission first), or your personal practice and share the video with me via email/Dropbox/Google Drive. I'll offer feedback based on your question and what I see. The video doesn't have to be fancy, just clear as if I were in the room with you.

question_answer

Will we be practicing asana during the training sessions?

Kinesthetic learning will be part of the course, meaning we'll be moving and exploring functional mechanics in our own body. However, with only 90 minute training sessions, there will not be time for an entire practice.

question_answer

Is the course different from the training sessions?

The course is the total of the 25 CEs.

The CEs are broken up into equal parts / training sessions over five weeks.

question_answer

Why are the class sessions at specific times instead of recorded?

I was shocked to learn that more than 80% of pre-recorded online learning courses are never completed by the people who pay to take them. This course is designed to crush those statistics and give you the best opportunity to learn and ask questions along the way.
